Renewable / Recyclable
According to the Fibre Box Association, corrugated packaging is 100% recyclable, and 93 percent of it is recovered and recycled to make new boxes and other paper products.
Reliable
Every day, the forest products industry plants 1.7 million new trees, which helps North American forests be more sustainable in the long term, preserves wildlife habitats, sequesters carbon dioxide and offsets greenhouse gas emissions.
Sustainable
Corrugated packaging that is recycled instead of being thrown away has decreased the industry’s greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by 35 percent from 2006-2014. This is accomplished simply by keeping corrugated out of landfills. When recycled, corrugated provides fiber that is used to make new corrugated boxes–which in turn uses less raw material overall.
Paper mills, who provide corrugated businesses with the materials to make packages, no longer use fuel from non-sustainable fossil fuel sources like oil and coal. In 2014, the fuel combination utilized by mills consisted of 73 percent natural gas. By using more natural gas, it reduces contributions to global warming and greenhouse gas emissions.

Although plastics used in packaging (such as stretch film) are highly recyclable, less than 15% of them are actually recycled instead of disposed of.
Reducing our use of plastic is essential to preserving this valuable resource. Plastic requires less energy and water to produce and is lighter to transport than other materials. It is an extremely useful material that offers unrivaled functionality at a low cost. We need to do everything within our power to preserve this resource, and reducing our use of it is a good place to start!
